Expedition: Winter Whales of Norway
Mission Goals:
When: Nov 2021
Location: Tromsø, Norway
SEDNA’s Epic Expedition to Norway departs from Tromsø aboard the MS Freya to explore Norway’s arctic (70 degrees North) fjords and to conduct oceanic research on humpbacks and orcas during the winter herring run. The mission unites women of all skill sets and backgrounds from around the world — scientists, explorers, movie-makers, artists, writers, lawyers, educators, and divers. Indigenous mission members from the Sami of Scandanavia and Inuit from Canada and Greenland join the effort, and the women work together to observe and study whales, the Arctic, and what climate change could mean for all of them.
