I always knew I had to fight for our planet. My work is interdisciplinary, inspired by my training in renewable energy law, my passion for the ocean, and my interest in people. At base is a deep-seated belief that together, we can and must do better.

At base is a deep-seated belief that together, we can and must do better.

I have a decade of experience fighting for our planet. I spread awareness of climate and ocean crises through journalism and storytelling. I’ve honed her skills in the field with scientists, on the streets with organizers, in our legal system with businesses and policymakers, and in our classrooms with the next generation. I apply these diverse experiences to create powerful momentum around the pressing climate and environmental issues of our time.

My features are grounded in science, emphasize what we stand to lose, and encourage action. I feel privileged to be trusted with people’s stories and to shape environmental consciousness with my work. My mission is to involve and inspire others to see our world in an entirely different way – and to want to save it.

My mission is to involve and inspire others to see our world in an entirely different way – and to want to save it.

I hold degrees from UCLA (international development) and University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School (climate, refugee, environmental law) and am a trained climate reality leader with Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project. I lecture at the University of Miami Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and writes for the Keys Weekly Newspaper group.

When I’m not campaigning for the planet, I can be found scuba diving the Florida Keys, out on expedition, or searching for the world’s best cheesy fries.

  • I just read the piece you wrote about my good friend Valeire. You really captured her in your article and I learned some things about her I didn’t know before. I can’t even think of local news-ish piece that was 1/2 as good!

  • Thank you so much for teaching this Climate course. Even though I was generally sympathetic to the climate problems faced by the world, you brought the extent of the problem home to me. I realize that sitting on the sidelines and giving a few bucks to environmental groups is not enough. I have resolved to become more active, including talking about your course with my family and friends. I also want you to know that your presentations were thoughtful and thoroughly enjoyable. I looked forward to each class. You smartly included guest speakers who were interesting and actually working in the field. I was really disappointed when the class ended. You are performing a wonderful service.

  • Thank you for an eye-opening class on climate change and worldwide waste. It is heartening to find people as committed as you and your guest presenters are. I will still do my best to combat climate change incorporating many of your excellent ideas and I will join at least one group fighting climate change.

  • I can’t thank you enough for an amazing class. I also want to thank all my classmates for being so engaged and making the climate conversations meaningful and personal. It was so engaging I think we all could easily have stayed another hour. Excellent time management and program organization. I loved the contagious enthusiasm. I loved the class interaction. I think you nailed it! I would love for you to continue this class so that other OLLI members can share in your expertise and enthusiasm. This would be a great service to our community.
